Digitalization in the industry is pursued for various reasons, among which are the search for increased efficiency, productivity, transparency, new business models and improved sustainability.In the case of VAVIT, digital solutions (artificial vision and machine learning) will be tested that will contribute to increased productivity in the wine sector, increasing quality and improving product safety. These two technologies, specifically machine learning, have a direct impact on the technological trend of artificial intelligence, which is further detailed in this study.
The project aims to analyze the feasibility of installing machine vision in wineries to improve the quality and safety of the wines produced.
This project is based on artificial intelligence as the main technological trend.
Challenges and needs to which it responds:
- Among others, the value provided by the solution will be studied at 4 points of the process:
- Pull cap inspector, to ensure correct positioning and avoid unwanted spontaneous openings and product returns due to incorrect positioning.
- Loading dock: quantification of incoming and outgoing product and distribution of the load on the trucks.
- Skin/peel inspector: ensuring the exit of wines free of impurities for both food safety and quality reasons.
- 360º inspection with deep learning of all the elements that make up a bottle of wine: label, DO seal, capsule, etc.
Activities: The activities are defined below in the definition of the work packages, which can be summarized in 5 concrete actions:
-Coordination and communication of the project.
-Generation of requirements and desired functionalities.
-Analysis of samples and user requirements.
-Proposal of solutions based on artificial intelligence.
-Assessment of the systems to be installed and user training.
-Coordination of the two cluster entities in each package will be key to execute the tasks of this study.
