OPTIVINYA

Pilot project to optimize the control of the maturation and quantity of the vine harvest

Project funded by the call: Cooperation for Innovation by the Agriculture Department of Catalonia (DARP) 2014-2020.

The main objective of the project is to provide the cava sector and by extension the wine sector (especially the dry wine sector) with tools to control the amount of the harvest, in addition to controlling the maturation of the grapes. different plots and to be able to determine the harvest date more precisely from data obtained with remote sensing systems.

The specific objectives proposed are:

1. Develop the correlation and validation of the aerial data with the field variables for each of the varieties under study (Xarel·lo and Macabeo).

2. Prepare growth curves throughout the ripening period of the grape in order to be able to determine harvest forecasts in advance.

3. Determine classification models to predict quality parameters in the different plots of the study.

4. Evaluate the oenological quality of the vinifications produced from the harvest of the different groups studied.

5. Evaluate the economic viability of the actions carried out.

The purpose of the project is to make use of technology to evaluate the state of the plots in their entirety, focusing on the management of the exploitation as a set of plots. The management and study unit will be the current agricultural parcels. In this way, this tool that is intended to be developed will be of great use for associations that bring together a large number of producers, such as cooperatives, ADVs, DOs, etc.
