Last Monday, April 20, 2026, the creation of the Wine Innovation Collaboration Alliance (WICA) was officially formalized, marking a strategic milestone for the future of the European and international wine sector. This new alliance was established with the aim of strengthening innovation, collaboration, and internationalization across the wine value chain.

At INNOVI, we particularly celebrate this achievement, as the Catalan cluster is one of the founding members of the initiative and holds the vice-presidency of the alliance. WICA is the result of joint work carried out במסגרת the European project EPAWI (2021–2024), which has brought together leading clusters from France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal to promote a shared innovation strategy in the sector.

The new alliance is structured as an international cooperation platform that will connect companies, technology centers, and key stakeholders in the sector, with the aim of addressing major current challenges: sustainability, digitalization, and global competitiveness. In this regard, WICA will facilitate the development of technological solutions, knowledge exchange, and access to new markets for European companies.

For INNOVI, this initiative strengthens its position as a driving force for innovation in the wine sector and consolidates its role at the European level, actively contributing to building a more resilient, connected, and future-oriented sector.
