Event organized by Universitat Rovira i Virgili as part of the Germ of Life project
The Germ of Life project, co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, is developing an innovative system of digital technologies to improve the preventive management of drought risks.
Ten organizations from six Euro-Mediterranean countries—Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, France and Spain—are working together to improve preventive drought-risk management. In recognition of the quality of its proposal, Germ of Life was selected by the European Commission through the Interreg Euro-MED programme and has received more than €2.3 million in European funding to carry it out.
The Mediterranean region is considered one of the areas of the world most exposed to the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of droughts caused by climate change.
Germ of Life aims to provide solutions, including a digital drought-risk management system, to support the implementation of mitigation and adaptation strategies that restore the balance of ecosystems in Euro-Mediterranean countries.
