Project funded by the call: Cooperation for Innovation by the Agriculture Department of Catalonia (DARP) 2014-2020.
The general objective of the project consists of testing different innovative treatment applications in two wineries applying the natural system of constructed wetlands: for the purification of wastewater and for the dehydration and stabilization of sludge.
The final objective is to determine which sludge management system is the most convenient and, based on the results, define the design and dimensioning scheme and assess the cost of the final installation.
The WETWINE project responds to the challenges posed by the circular economy. Its objective is to ensure that the effluent wastewater has a sufficient quality for its reuse in the farm itself for irrigation. In addition, the idea is that the residual sludge is treated by its application in the fields as a contribution of nutrients to the vineyards.
